School Holidays and Camps

We have creative activities planned for many of the days that District 97 doesn’t have school.

Winter Break Camp, December 27-29 and January 2-5, ages 3+

Our STEAM-based learning environment for process-oriented creative projects is like no other in the area. With multiple activities running at the same time, your camper should find projects that suit their interests!

Schedule:

  • Wednesday, December 27- Printmaking- projects for the day may include: poster art, cyanotypes, stamp making, personalized t-shirt printing and printing with found objects (and related age/skill appropriate projects for pre-k students)
  • Thursday, December 28- Theatre- projects for the day may include: puppet making, puppet shows, masks, dioramas and improv (and related age/skill appropriate projects for pre-k students)
  • Friday, December 29- Crafts- projects for the day may include: stuffed animals/pillows, bookbinding, cards and mugs (and related age/skill appropriate projects for pre-k students)
  • Tuesday, January 2- Pop Art- projects for the day may include: collage, ceramic tiles and poster art (and related age/skill appropriate projects for pre-k students)
  • Wednesday, January 3- Architecture- projects for the day may include: house design, perspective drawing, sculpture and arts and scraps designs (and related age/skill appropriate projects for pre-k students)
  • Thursday, January 4- Concept Design-¬†projects for the day may include: 3D printing, toy design and game design (and related age/skill appropriate projects for pre-k students)
  • Friday, January 5- Wearable Art- projects for the day may include: pendants/keychains/charms, personalized name plates, costumes, masks and sketching for design (and related age/skill appropriate projects for pre-k students)

*if your child makes a ceramic project that needs to be fired, they will not be able to take it home the same day.

Camp activities begin at about 9am, though you are welcome to drop-off from 8am. Kids will have free time to draw, paint, play games and explore the Studio before 9am, as well as between projects during the day. We’ll also offer guided drawing or painting lessons with our art teachers in break-out sessions.
Comfortable clothes and shoes are recommended, as well as having something warm to wear in the backyard. We’ll have snack breaks in the morning and afternoon, so please send snacks and a water bottle with your child. If they’re staying after 12:00, send a lunch, too.¬†No food with nuts, please.

Sign up options:

  • Drop off between 8-9am; pick up at noon, $48 per day
  • Drop off between 8-9am; pick up at 3pm, $84 per day
  • Drop off between 8-9am; pick up at 6pm, $120 per day

  • January 15- Martin Luther King Day- Superhero Day
  • January 26- Institute Day- Cooking Day
  • February 19- Presidents’ Day- Science Day
  • March 20- Institute Day- Future Day

Drop off between 8am and 9am, projects will begin shortly after 9am. Wear clothes that can get dirty and comfortable shoes, and bring a water bottle and lunch if you’re staying after 12:00. We’ll have supplies for your child to make a snack here. No nuts, please.Sign up options:

***Refund policy for all holidays and camps: Magical Minds Studio will offer a refund up to 3 weeks in advance of the activity date, minus a $25 admin/processing fee. With less than 3 weeks notice we will only offer a credit or transfer.***
