Summer Camp Fall 2010
Below is a summary of this past Art Camp.  Every summer we run a new set of creative projects!
Keep the creativity and learning flowing when school lets out.  Our program allows children to explore and tackle new projects as well as experiment with new materials.
Our summer camp weekly experiences will be as follows:

June 7th-June 10th – Nature – Exploring all things nature, children will be guided to think of natural materials as tools to create pieces of art.  Young artists will use several different mediums throughout the week.

June 14th – June 17th – Textile Arts – This week will be full of everything having to do with textiles and patterns.  Children will be exploring a variety of technique like marbling, weaving, batiking, printing and tie dying.

June 21st – 24th – Sculpture – A wide range of objects and tools will be introduced to children.  Clay, wood, and metal are just a few materials used to create a sculpted master piece.

June 28th – July 1st- Book Making – Children will learn how to piece and bind together different types of books as well as make their own paper.

July 5th – July 8th – Cooking – Young chefs will learn how to mix basic ingredients to make fun and tasty treats while learning about science and health.  They will also reprouce food in art form using clay, paint, dry food and more!

July 12th – July 15th – Puppets & Masks – Theater arts will be the focus as children create puppets and masks out of  socks, puffy paint, markers and paper mache.  They will also create a stage for the performance of their hand crafted puppets.

July 19th – July 22nd – Latin Art – This week we will travel to Spain and Mexico exploring ancient Aztec people, Zapotec rugs and Spanish sand art.

July 26th – July 29th – Robots – Always a hit, children get to work with big boxes, tubes, metallic paper, paint and many more found objects to create their dream robot.

August 2nd – August 5th – Art in Motion – The Artist Alexander Calder will be honored in this week.  His magnificent mobile designs crafted from random materials always inspire young minds to create!  Wind chimes and wind kites will also be explored as children learn about gravity.

August 9th – August 12th – Recycled Art – Children become inventors as they reuse natural and recycled materials to create whatever their hearts and magical minds desire.
