Things that make you go round!

October 5, 2015 • Passport To Preschool

We continued our travels in shape, focusing this time on round shapes.  Who better to talk about than Clifford Tjapaltjarri, a once magnificent Aboriginal artist from down under.  We explored his technique of painting dots by using Q-tips.  Since we love animals so much, we incorporated our larger stencils to bring life to our “dots.”  But wait, that’s not all.  How can we make so many dots without counting them?  We pulled out our circle fraction puzzle to help us break up the numbers. Speaking of breaking up numbers, we squeezed in a story about Owl Babies, all three of them.  Their oval bodies so very lonely after their mommy had left them.  But not all stories have sad endings, Mama came back, with big juicy worms to feed her babies, all three of them!
