Open studio classes are free to anyone enrolled in a session from October to May.

Classes are sold in 5 or 10 week sessions.

Class Fee/Duration

All scheduled classes must have 3 or more children enrolled for a 10 week session package in order to be opened.

Walk-Ins are available for classes that have 2 or more children enrolled. PLEASE CALL TO SCHEDULE YOUR WALK-IN (1-708-948-7934).
Groups of 6 or more receive an additional 5% discount!

Make-up Policy

No credits or refunds for missed classes. Two make-ups are allowed within each session.

Please call in advance for walk-ins and class make-ups.

Descriptions

Magical Beginnings:  (18mos - 2.5 years)
At this age students are expressing themselves with scribbles, emerging vocabulary, and basic storytelling.  Magical Beginnings is focused on the exploration of materials and techniques.  Students are encouraged to experiment with painting, drawing, sculpture, sensory objects and building at different stations, to develop fine motor and spatial skills.  Parents work alongside their children, helping them develop familiarity with art materials.

Magical Explorations: (2.5 years - 4 years)
Students are more able to express themselves and manipulate their materials as motor skills and problem solving skills are developing.  In Magical Explorations, students are introduced to a greater variety of materials and given more freedom in which to explore those materials.  In this section the art instructor may use books, music, or props as a starting point for student inspiration. Students participate in multiple stations during each class, exploring painting, drawing, sculpture, sensory objects and literacy knowledge.  As students gain confidence, parental involvement is reduced to an as needed basis.

Magical Creations Level 1: (4 years - 6 years)
Students have become avid storytellers in both words and pictures.  In Magical Creations students are introduced to various artistic concepts and encouraged to participate in a sharing “critique” at the end of each class.  This time allows students to develop vocabulary as well as verbal, listening and reflection skills that are important for later success in the classroom. Students participate in multiple stations that focus on painting, drawing, sculpture, sensory skills and thematic projects.   Magical Creations is a more structured environment where students are expected to follow instructions and work with others.  Parental involvement is reduced to an as needed basis.

Magical Creations Level 2: (7 years – 9 years):
At this time young artists know what they like and have excelled visual awareness of art. We provide them the materials they need to explore different outcomes or achieve a specific creation. Not all works will be completed during one class. At the end of each session students will have an opportunity to share their work with others in the class and discuss how they came to their creation. This class in meant to inspire and encourage creative growth and provide an outlet for the ever changing emotional and physical changes these students experience.

Magical Creations Level 3: (10 years–12 years):
A more advanced class, level 3 will take the young artist on a journey to various states of mind and awareness. This class is meant to explore, emotion, composition and the ability to visually create a message through a set of collages. Each child will have the opportunity for critiquing their own work. This class is not meant to be taken alone, rather a session of at least 5 or more in order to experience the full circle of their personal collage.

Magical Siblings: (18mos - 6years)  
Students are able to attend class with their siblings.  In Magical Siblings, students will experiment with a wide variety of materials, in activities that include painting, drawing, sculpture, sensory exploration and thematic projects. The teacher will use a book as a starting point for student inspiration and students will have the opportunity to participate in a sharing critique at the end of each class.  This allows older siblings to develop the same skills they would in a non-sibling class.  Activities will vary depending upon the age of children enrolled.  Parental involvement is required if either sibling is under 4 years of age.  This class is offered to two 2 siblings, every child after is $16.
